Leadership for Women, by Women

Convention 2015 attendees

Every two years, 1,000 women leaders from across the country gather to discover new ways to empower themselves and their community. AAUW’s national convention is a unique opportunity to learn new skills, gain insight and inspiration, and connect with other women leaders.

Open to anyone who believes in empowering women and girls, our program provides engaging opportunities for professional and personal growth so that women leaders everywhere can maximize their impact.

Our program is also full of fun and engaging networking opportunities. It’s a place to meet new friends who share your passions and connect with leaders and advocates from across the country. Plus, you can take in the best culture and entertainment our host cities have to offer on exciting pre- and post-convention tours.

Inspirational Speakers and Awardees

What does it take to make a woman leader? How do we solve the equation of women and girls’ underrepresentation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics? What can you do, right now, to help enforce Title IX and other laws that protect your rights? Our 2015 speakers and panels explored these issues and more, while our 2015 awardees gave key leadership lessons to take home to our local communities.

Diverse and Engaging Programming

Leaders gained new skills through in-depth workshops and shared their own experiences and insights at Daily Dialogues. AAUW members showcased their local Programs That Work at our roundtables session and took advantage of the opportunity to consult with AAUW staff experts on everything from social media to fundraising.

The Eduvacation of a Lifetime!

Our 2015 attendees didn’t just learn a lot: They had a lot of fun doing it! Our pre- and post-convention tours and activities highlighted the very best of southern California. Attendees sampled famous California wines and San Diego sunshine at our receptions, banquets, and happy hours. Most of all, there’s something special that happens when 1,000 women leaders gather to connect, renew, and explore together: We call it an eduvacation.

2013: Letting the Good Times Roll!

DebbieIn 2013, we soaked up the unique zest, culture, and joie de vivre of New Orleans. Our opening dinner featured a rare treat: a local all-female jazz-band. Add in a and a second line parade (or two!) and this truly was a convention like no other!

We gained a wealth of new tools and skills at workshops to bring back to our local communities. We commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Equal Pay Act and considered our next steps in the fight for fair pay. At our banquet, award winners inspired us as we celebrated the legacy of AAUW fellowships and grants over the past 125 years.
